About
I am Anne Gerssen
I am a User Experience Designer, Digital Strategist and Creative Lead and have many years of experience in the UX profession. I am born and raised in the Netherlands, where I studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Technical University of Delft.
Since then I have lived for 15 years abroad in Ghana, Denmark and Cambodia but recently returned to my homeland. I currently work at the Rabobank in Utrecht (the Netherlands) as Design Strategist.
I am specialized in designing complex websites and professional tools, crafting experiences and interfaces for productivity software and financial tools. I have designed many digital solutions to enhance people’s everyday life.
I love to to turn messy and complex applications into intuitive and user-friendly experiences. I enjoy talking to users and learning about their world.
In Phnom Penh, I worked as Head of Design for creative design agency Mäd Creative, leading commercial design projects. I also created an experience vision for a large garments manufacturer in SEA.
Before moving to Cambodia, I lived for over 10 years in Copenhagen (DK), soaking up the Danish Design traditions.I worked at Danske Bank as Head of User Experience for Business Banking, where I was responsible for the customer experience of all digital business banking channels, across platforms. One of the biggest projects was the launch of Danske Bank District and creating a design vision for the experience of its various users aligning all internal and external stakeholders.
Prior I worked at SimCorp, a leading provider of investment management software, designing digital solutions for Front Office to Back Office as their first User Experience Lead.
I started my career in design at Microsoft Business Solutions, where I held various UX Designer roles in Dynamics Mobile and Dynamics 365.
I am always interested in challenging and innovative projects.
Design Process
I employ user insights to craft great experiences.

Research
Before any design is made, you need to know the users and learn about their thinking and behavior through user research. This can be interviews, workshops, user observations, or testing the existing system to see how the current experience is.

Concept
When user knowledge and workflows are in place, I generate ideas for the design. This can be through brainstorm sessions involving the product team and other stakeholders or sketching with pen and paper. The best ideas are identified and further explored, in wireframes and UI mockups.

Design
After the initial concept of the workflow and interaction is defined, I go through an iterative design process to improve the design. The wireframes turn into an interactive prototype with a lot of UI detail and interaction definition.

Development
When the design and interaction is agreed upon, it is time to finetune the UI on all screens to ensure the best visual design, branding experience and consistency of elements in all pages of the app or website.
